Navidades 2006: Trip to Germany

Navidades 2006: Trip to Germany

So, this was time to finally go to visit our friend, Adrian, to Frankfurt, before he leaves and go to Saskatoon again...
We had plenty of plans in our minds before going and lots of places where we wanted to go... But, finally we didnt get it, and we only went to Frankfurt, Aagen, Rothenburg, Colonne, and some other towns that i couldnt repeat the name... well, my german is kind of limited, haha.

This was kind of weird to stay in our friend´s house, because the only trip we had made with him was that one to the prince albert national park, in saskatchewan, when we made him do the worst work (cargar the heaviest bag, with 10 or 20 litres of water, sleep without any blancket or sleeping bag in the tent, and so on...). So, if i was him, i wouldn´t have had good memories from us...
But once more, he let his room so that we could sleep there, he was all the week sleeping in the sofa... We met his parents (they lived in the same house, downstairs), who were really nice, they showed us how to make tipical german christmas cake to bring it to our families...
Here we see.. Frankfurt downtown, it doesnt have much to see... in fact we got tired of Frankfurt, haha, because we spent there too much time...
What i liked most was the christmas market, in general in all over Germany, because its kind of different that this is in spain... Here the aim of the christams market is to buy different stuff, but mostly material stuff. However, in Germany the main aim is to drink and eat. The houses they set up for this are cute, well, you can see it in the pics.

Y bueno, en ésta podeis ver lo que allí es más típico de beber en estas fechas, que es el vino caliente!!! YES! hot wine , the worst drink i´ve ever tried, they serve it with cream and cinamon.... Well, Adrian was excited for the fact that we were gonna try it, although i started to feel bad in the very moment in which we got closer to the tent where they were selling it.....
Ya, when i tried it, i wanted to throw up... i could see in susana´s face the expresion that told me that she was thinking/feeling the same... but none of us were encouraged to say it.... so, it lasted forever until we could drink it... What is more, when we were finishing, the wine wasn´t hot anymore... Meanwhile, Adrian was saying: hurry up! i´m waiting for you to go for a refill.... Oh, my god, when i heard this, i couldn´t avoid a smile from my mouth... i looked at susana, she looked at me, and I said: well, i think u should go for a refill, because we´re too slow... haha.

See? Who was the only one who didn´t have the cup of hot wine..... Well, it wasnt susana neither me... hahaha

And one of the trips we made, oh, i mean, the only trip we made, we stopped in aagen to get some sleep in Susana´s friend´s house. Well, it was a coinicidence that i met also a girl from my university who i knew because it was one of my friends´no friend, haha, well, they didn´t get along with each other very well
but we managed to get some fun, specially because now we were 4 spanish against 1 german in germany... haha.
Aagen is a University city, so we managed to get some fun, but still the bars were closed too soon, so we tried to get into a private party... well, i would have made it for sure in any other country in the world (at least in any other country where i have been), but germans are so weird.... that i wasnt encouraged enough... See the picture, we managed to get inside the house, but we didnt get to knock on the door to get into the party...

Oh, this is the size of the cup in Germany if u order a coffee with milk, and... another surprising custom, well they dont drink any kind of drink with lemon fanta.. If u order a rum with lemon, they dont understand u and then they ask: are u sure? and look at u as if u were the weirdst criature in the world...

They also knock the tables when they are in a lecture and they liked it, instead of clapping.... well, adrian had to make a presentation and we went to see him, when he finished his presentation, everybody was knocking the tables...except for susana and me, it was funny.
